El Paso Diablos News Release

EL PASO, TX- The Diablos racked up 19 hits including a two-run home run by Jermy Acey and got six solid innings from right-hander Kevin Cooper (1-0) to beat the Sioux Falls Pheasants by a final of 13-7.

El Paso got the scoring started in the second inning. Zane Chavez and J.J Muse each knocked in runs in that frame to give El Paso an early 2-0 lead.

Not to be outdone, the Pheasants responded with five runs of their own in the third, the last three coming on a towering three-run home run by Reggie Abercrombie.

It was the last lead the Pheasants would enjoy. Acey's two-run blast off Pete Gehle (6-10) brought El Paso to within one, and Jordan Marks' RBI double in the fourth tied the score. The Diablos took the lead Reid Fronk's double two batters later en route to four runs in the inning.

Leading 8-5 into the sixth, El Paso once again pounced for four runs, two coming on Daniel Nelson's double with one out. The Diablos would add on one more run while the Pheasants put up two to close out the scoring.

The game was the final evening contest of the year for the Diablos, who finish their season on Monday in the series and season finale against the Pheasants. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. (MST).
