
Eight is Great: Hot Rods Win Eight in a Row with 5-3 win over Captains

BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Bowling Green Hot Rods won their eighth straight game with a 5-3 win over the Lake County Captains, as they will look for the sweep over Lake County tomorrow.
The Hot Rods first got on the board in the second inning when DH Trey Hair reached on an error, and then scored on a RBI double from RF Moises Gomez to make the score 1-0. Then CF Jake Stone laid down a base hit bunt, and the ball was thrown away as the Captains tried to get stone at first which allowed Davis to score and bring the score to 2-0.
The Hot Rods added on another run in the third inning thanks to a solo home run from Gomez. It was home run number 18 on the season for Gomez and his eighth home run in the month of August.
The Hot Rods offense wasn't done after that as they added on two more runs in the fourth inning. Stone doubled to get things started in the frame, and he scored thanks to a single from SS Taylor Walls. After the single Walls stole second and then came around to score on a double from Gomez to give the Hot Rods a 5-0 lead.
The Captains got their first run in the sixth inning when CF Tre Gantt got the first hit of the ballgame, and he then scored on another single from 1B Jose Vicente and Lake County trailed 5-1.
The Captains made it interesting in the eighth inning when they got within two runs thanks to a two run home run from Vicente, but RHP Tyler Zombro was able to come in and record to final three outs to earn his seventh save of the season and give the Hot Rods the win.
RHP Tommy Romero got the start for the Hot Rods and he threw six inning and allowed just three hits and one run, he walked two and struck out three.
The Hot Rods and the Captains conclude their four game series tomorrow at 12:05om CST from Bowling Green Ballpark. LHP Resly Linares gets the start for the Hot Rods, and he will be opposed by LHP Juan Hillman for the Captains.
