CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - The Kernels again used early offense to roll past the Kane County Cougars 10-4 on Sunday afternoon. Cedar Rapids goes for a four-game sweep in the series finale on Monday night. The Kernels have scored in the first inning in all three games of the series, totaling eight runs in the first frame.

Cedar Rapids improved to a season-best 12 games over .500 overall at 72-60. The Kernels secured their fourth consecutive series win.

Tyler Watson (5-6) matched a season-high with seven innings on the mound to win the victory. He struck out eight while allowing two runs, five hits, and three walks. The southpaw retired 10 in a row at one point.

Both Ryan Jeffers and Michael Davis finished with three hits. Jacob Pearson collected three RBI, including a home run.

Jeffers got the scoring started with a RBI single in the first. Ben Rodriguez followed with a sacrifice fly and put the Kernels up 2-0. Pearson smashed a two-run home run to right field and the Kernels jumped up 4-0. It was Pearson's sixth home run of the season.

Cedar Rapids (72-60, 40-23) added a run in the second when Davis scored on a double steal, making the score 5-0.

Kane County (68-63, 33-29) got on the board in the third inning with a RBI single by Yoel Yanqui and a sacrifice fly by Ryan Grotjohn.

The Kernels responded with a three-run fourth inning and took an 8-2 advantage. David Banuelos and Davis both scored on a throwing error by Cougars starter Mack Lemieux. Gabriel Maciel's sacrifice fly put the Kernels up to six.

Cedar Rapids added two more runs in the seventh inning to take a 10-2 lead. Eudy Ramos hit a two-run home run in the ninth inning for Kane County, making the score 10-4.

The series concludes on Monday night at 6:35 p.m. Randy Dobnak (9-3, 3.23) is scheduled to start for the Kernels against Kane County's Cole Bartlett (5-2, 3.67). Fans can listen to the action on 1450 KMRY AM and 93.1 KMRY FM, as well as online at www.kernels.com and www.kmryradio.com.
