Edmonton recalls defenseman from Iowa

DES MOINES, IA - Iowa Stars Director of Hockey Operations Scott White announced today that the Edmonton Oilers have recalled defenseman Matt Greene from the Des Moines-based Iowa Stars.

A native of Grand Ledge, Michigan, Greene has skated in 23 games for the Iowa Stars this season, notching two goals, four assists and 34 penalty minutes: 23(2/4/6). Both of Greene's goals have come on special teams, his first pro goal came on the power-play on October 15th, while his second was the Stars second-ever shorthand goal (Nov. 13th). The former University of North Dakota player is just one of three Iowa Stars players to appear in all 23 games this season.

The first-year professional was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers with their fourth choice, 44th overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
