Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
Papillion, Neb. - The Omaha Storm Chasers (33-35) fell in game four 8-3 to the Columbus Clippers (40-30). The series is now tied at 2-2 but Omaha still holds an edge in the season series 6-4.
The Clippers scored the game's first run for the third time through the first four games of the series, hitting a homer in the first to take a 1-0 lead.
The Storm Chasers answered with a two-out single in the bottom of the frame from right fielder Nate Eaton, but he would end up stranded to end the inning.
Columbus added to their lead on a sacrifice fly in the fourth and a two-run homer in the fifth. The Clippers kept their bats hot with another two-run shot in the sixth and open a 6-0 lead.
Right-hander Carlos Hernández went 5.0 innings, allowing four earned runs on five hits with six strikeouts and just one walk.
First baseman Nick Pratto led off the bottom of the sixth with a walk before Eaton earned his third hit in as many at bats, putting a pair of runners on with nobody out. Designated hitter Vinnie Pasquantino beat out a double play to put runners at the corners and left fielder Brewer Hicklen juiced the bases for Omaha with a walk.
Second baseman Michael Massey scored the first Storm Chaser run with a single and third baseman Clay Dungan scored another with a sacrifice fly to cut the Columbus lead to 6-2 through six.
William Hancock came in to pinch hit in the ninth, drawing a leadoff walk and moving to second on a wild pitch. Center fielder Dairon Blanco hit a double to score Hancock, but a Clippers double play cleared the bases.
