Gwinnett Stripers News Release
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Gwinnett Stripers (35-35) yielded six runs over the first three innings in an 8-3 loss to the Nashville Sounds (41-28) on Friday night at First Horizon Park. Drew Waters went 2-for-5 with a triple, run scored, and RBI, but the Stripers couldn't mount a comeback.
Decisive Plays: Gwinnett took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Nashville quickly responded with a Mario Feliciano game-tying RBI single and Corey Ray three-run double off Huascar Ynoa (L, 3-4). The Sounds added runs in the second and third to go up 6-1. The Stripers scored twice in the fifth on Waters' RBI triple and an RBI single by Preston Tucker, but Nashville got those runs back in a two-run eighth.
Key Contributors: All nine Stripers batters had at least one hit, with Waters (2-for-5, triple, RBI), Kramer Robertson (2-for-5, 2 runs), Braden Shewmake (2-for-3), and Ryan Goins (2-for-4) all notching multi-hit games. Six Gwinnett pitchers combined to allow a season-high 19 hits, however, as Ray finished 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs and Feliciano went 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Dylan File (W, 3-3) scattered 10 hits over 6.0 three-run innings for the win.
*Noteworthy: *Robertson extended his hitting streak to eight games, while Shewmake extended his hitting streak to seven games. Ynoa lasted just 0.2 innings in his shortest start of the year.
