Jacksonville Suffers Two-Run Loss to Durham

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Despite a two-run home run from Charles Leblanc, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp fell 4-2 to the Durham Bulls Friday night in front of 6,034 fans at 121 Financial Ballpark.

Jacksonville (37-33) trailed 1-0 heading to the bottom of the second but flipped the script and took the lead. JJ Bleday singled with one out and Leblanc (10) followed with a two-run home run to put the Jumbo Shrimp ahead 2-1.

Durham (38-32) responded in the top of the third and took the lead back. Cal Stevenson led off with a single and went to third on a single by Miles Mastrobuoni. Wander Franco followed with the third single of the inning, scoring Stevenson from third to tie the game at two. Mastrobuoni went to third on the single by Franco and then scored on a single by Xavier Edwards to give put Durham ahead 3-2.

The teams were held scoreless until the top of the ninth and the Bulls added to their lead. With one out, Jim Haley walked and then advanced to third on a double from Ford Proctor. With runners at second and third, Tristan Gray hit a sac fly, scoring Haley to increase the Bulls lead to 4-2.

Durham took the early lead in the top of the first. With one out, Franco singled and went to third on a single from Edwards. With runners at the corners, Haley reached on a fielder's choice and Franco scored the first run of the game against Jacksonville starter Bryan Hoeing (L, 5-3).

Jacksonville continues their series with the Durham Bulls in Saturday's 6:35 p.m. contest. RHP Nick Neidert (0-0, 2.40) gets the ball for the Jumbo Shrimp and the Bulls will counter with LHP Ryan Yarborough (1-1, 5.79). Coverage begins at 6:20 p.m. ET on ESPN 690, espn690.com and MiLB.tv.
