
Early Runs, Strong Pitching Lift Scrappers to Victory Over Spikes

Mahoning Valley Scrappers News Release
Niles, Ohio - Mahoning Valley scored five runs over the first four innings and shut out State College into the ninth inning in a 6-1 victory over the Spikes.
Four different Scrappers drove in runs, including two by Tony Wolters and two by John Barr. Wolters went 2-for-4, and Barr went 1-for-3 with a sacrifice fly.
Will Roberts started and threw four scoreless innings. Roberts, making his second start of the season, allowed five hits and one walk and struck out two batters. Harold Guerrero came out of the bullpen and pitched four shutout innings. He picked up the win to improve to 2-1.
State College scored its only run of the game on a groundout in the top of the ninth inning.
Spikes starter Zack Dodson picked up the loss, falling to 0-1.
The Scrappers and Spikes will conclude their two-game series on Wednesday night at 7:05 pm.
