Scranton/WB's early runs and outstanding pitching led to a 7-2 win over the Herd in front of 15,614 on School Kids Day at Coca-Cola Field on Wednesday. With the win, the RailRiders completed a three-game sweep of the Bisons.

It's the first the RailRiders have swept Buffalo since the 2012 season.

The Bisons got behind quickly again today. In the top of the first, Cole Figueroa hit his first of two RBI on the day, driving in Mason Williams with a double to take the lead two batters into the game. Rob Refsnyder then reached on a fielder's choice, as Bisons' starter Felix Doubront threw wildly to second base trying to catch Figueroa.

Doubront's slipup was costly, as right fielder Tyler Austin would drive in two more runs with a single to centerfield, extending the RailRiders' lead to 3-0 before the Bisons could even get a batter in the box.

A 3-0 Scranton/WB lead grew to 5-0 in the third on a Nick Noonan RBI-single and a wild pitch from Doubront with Rob Segedin on third base.

Doubront was credited with the loss allowing five runs in four innings of work. The defeat drops the southpaw's record to 0-2 on the season.

The Bisons couldn't do much damage on Yankees top prospect Luis Severino, who was credited with the win on Wednesday. Severino struck out four and allowed the only two runs from the Herd in his five innings pitched. He retired the first 11 batters he faced.

The only time the Bisons got on the board was in the sixth inning. The Herd loaded the bases against Severino on a walk and base hits from Ramon Santiago and Caleb Gindl. Matt Hague then came through with the two-run single to left field to close the gap to 5-2.

However, the RailRiders added insurance runs in the seventh and eighth innings for the 7-2 win.

Buffalo looks to turn their losing streak around in a doubleheader against Charlotte on Thursday. The first game is at 4:05 p.m.
