
Bats Lose Series to Clippers in 11 Innings, 3-2

COLUMBUS, OH -The Louisville Bats (31-29) lose the series in extra innings, 3-2, against the Columbus Clippers (31-29) at Huntington Park.
Right-hander Sam LeCure (2-3) came in to pitch for the Bats in the 11th inning. With the bases loaded for the Clippers, third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall is hit by a pitch advancing the runners to win the game, 3-2. LeCure went for .2 innings, allowed one hit, one run, one earned run, walked two, which caused him to take the loss.
Right-hander Layne Somsen made his second appearance with the Louisville Bats today. He went for five innings, allowed three hits, one run, one earned run, walked four, and struck out two.
Starting on the mound for Columbus was right-hander Jordan Cooper. He was relieved by left-hander Nick Maronde to start the sixth inning. Cooper went for five innings, two hits, one run, one earned run, walked two, struck out two, and allowed one homerun. Right-hander Shawn Armstrong (1-2) pitched the extra innings for the Clippers and took his first win of the season. He went for two innings, allowed one hit, zero runs, and struck out three.
First baseman Josh Satin tied the game, 1-1, in the fourth inning with his second homerun of the season.
Centerfielder Ryan LaMarre hit a single homer in the seventh inning to break the tie against the Clippers, equaling to three homers for him this season. The Clippers followed in the bottom of the seventh with a single by centerfielder Tyler Naquin to score catcher Adam Moore to tie the game again, 2-2.
The Bats extra inning record went to 5-2 after beating the Clippers the previous night in 11 innings, while the record moved to 5-3 after losing to the Clippers tonight in 11 innings.
The Louisville Bats head back to Louisville Slugger Field tomorrow for a seven game homestand and the start to a four game series against the Durham Bulls at 7:05 P.M. Projected to pitch for the Bats is right-hander Donovan Hand (1-2, 4.15) and for the Bulls left-hander Everett Teaford (3-5, 6.95).
