Eagles Stop RiverKings in Colorado

LOVELAND, CO --- Andrej Hebar and Riley Nelson each scored a pair of goals as the Colorado Eagles defeated the Mississippi RiverKings in Central Hockey League action Saturday, February 19th in Loveland, Colorado.

Colorado scored twice in a span of 43 seconds of the first period to take a 2-0 lead after one period of play. Matt Glasser scored first at 5:32 for a 1-0 Eagles' lead, followed by Andrej Hebar's redirection of a pass into the net past RiverKings' goaltender Alexander Pechurskiy at 6:15 of the first for Hebar's first goal of the year and a 2-0 advantage after twenty minutes of action.

Milan Maslonka got the RiverKings on the board in the second period, deflecting a shot from Rusty Masters for a goal at the 12:02 mark of the period.

But, Riley Nelson scored two late goals to give the Eagles a 4-1 lead after forty minutes of action. Nelson scored first at 17:15 and followed with his second goal of the night with 38 seconds remaining in the session.

Hebar scored his second goal of the night in the third period on a penalty shot to complete the scoring for the night.

Mississippi was 0-for-4 on the power play, while Colorado scored once in six power play chances. The Eagles outshot the RiverKings 36-26 for the game, as Pechurskiy stopped 31 shots in seeing his record fall to 12-10-1 for the season. Kyle Jones made 25 saves in posting his 22nd win of the year (22-9-2).

With the win, Mississippi falls back to 24-24-4 for the season and has lost two in a row.

Next up, the RiverKings host Tulsa for a pair of games this coming weekend, Friday, February 25th and Saturday, February 26th, both nights at 7:05 PM at the DeSoto Civic Center. Friday is "Go Red For Women" night for the American Heart and Strok Association, Saturday's game supports the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
