Colorado Eagles News Release

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles completed a three-game sweep of the Bakersfield Condors with a 5-2 victory, stretching their winning streak to four games and completing a perfect home record (5-0-0) during the final month of 2012. Despite playing with just 12 active skaters, the Eagles were able to set a season high for shots in a game by registering 42 against the Condors.

For the second night in a row the Eagles scored on their first shot when, for the second night in a row, Teegan Moore scored a power-play goal. The tally came just over five minutes in when Trent Daavettila found Moore crashing the crease with a back-door pass.

Colorado doubled that lead just over a minute later when Moore and Daavettila teamed up again with assists on a Kevin Ulanski goal from the left side of the crease. The Eagles, however, failed to expand that lead when given four minutes worth of a double-minor power play midway through the period.

That missed opportunity looked potentially pivotal when the Condors got on the board by taking advantage of their own power play just 45 seconds into the second period. And when Brian Stewart stoned Michael Forney on a breakaway less than two minutes later, a surefire change in momentum was brewing.

But the Eagles swayed the game back in their favor by killing off back-to-back Bakersfield power plays midway through the second period and added an exclamation point by making it 3-1 when Ulanski found Moore coming out of the penalty box, springing the rookie forward on a rush that ended with a Daavettila tally.

Colorado made it 4-1 less than two minutes after that when Forney -- one of the league's leading goal scorers who's been snake-bit all month -- created a scoring opportunity for Ulanski that the latter turned into his second goal of the game.

The Condors were able to trim Colorado's lead to 4-2 when Daniel Koger scored 3:12 into the third period, but that was as close as they'd get. The Eagles then scored their second power-play goal of the game at 7:34 to make it 5-2. The goal occurred after the puck rolled on Ulanski's own chance at an open net, and after re-gathering the disc, he sent a pass from the left circle to the right circle for a one-timer by Daavettila.

After a league-mandated holiday break, the Eagles will travel to Alaska for a trio of games next weekend.
