LOVELAND, Colo. - After adding one defenseman via waiver claim one day before the 2013 ECHL All-Star Game, the Colorado Eagles have claimed another in Ryan Turek one day after the midseason highlight. The 5-foot-11-inch, 185-pound, right handed shooting blueliner is a former 4th round draft pick of the St. Louis Blues (#94 overall).

Like Jarrett Rush, who the Eagles claimed on Tuesday, Turek began the season with the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays, where he recorded nine points (1-8-9) and 14 penalty minutes in 19 games while also acting as one of the team's assistant captains.

He has spent most of the past four seasons in the ECHL, playing with the Utah Grizzlies, the Victoria Salmon Kings & the Alaska Aces. In 209 games in the league, Turek has tallied 82 total points (25-57-82) and 224 PIMs. His best season came in 2010-11 when he earned an All-Star appearance as a member of the Salmon Kings in a season that saw him register 33 points (11-22-33) in 53 games.

Prior to turning pro, the Southfield, MI native attended Michigan State University for three seasons, helping the team to the NCAA Frozen Four championship in 2007. Before that, he spent two seasons with the Omaha Lancers in the USHL and one season with the Texarkana Bandits in the NAHL.

After hosting the 2013 ECHL All-Star events earlier this week, the Eagles will host the Pacific Division-leading Ontario Reign in a pair of home games this weekend (Friday & Saturday) at the Budweiser Events Center. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by visiting www.ComcomstTix.com or by calling 1-877-544-TIXX (8499).
