Eagles Claim Defenseman Rush off Waivers From Stingrays
January 24, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Colorado Eagles News Release
LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles announced today a transaction that took place Tuesday prior to the 2013 ECHL Skills Competition, presented by CCM & OtterBox. The Eagles claimed defenseman Jarrett Rush off waivers from the South Carolina Stingrays.
Rush (6-foot-5-inches & 215 pounds) brings great size and leadership to Colorado's depleted defensive corps. He spent the majority of last season with the ECHL's Elmira Jackals, tallying two assists and 18 penalty minutes in 33 games. He began this season with the Jackals as well, before also seeing time with the Augusta RiverHawks (SPHL), Orlando Solar Bears (ECHL) & Stingrays. Prior to his initial stint with the Jackals, Rush proved his leadership abilities while serving as team captain for the Brooklyn Aviators (Federal Hockey League) and as a senior at Curry College (D-III).
After hosting the 2013 ECHL All-Star events earlier this week, the Eagles will host the Pacific Division-leading Ontario Reign in a pair of home games this weekend (Friday & Saturday) at the Budweiser Events Center. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by visiting www.ComcomstTix.com or by calling 1-877-544-TIXX (8499).
