The Bulls play the opener of a two-game series against the Gwinnett Braves in the second series of a six-game homestand. Durham is 9-2 over its last 11 games, but is still just 21-25 since the All-Star break. The Bulls have dropped 41 of their previous 70 contests to go from a 2.0-game lead in the IL South to a 7.5-game deficit. Gwinnett - the Atlanta Braves' top affiliate - is 2-5 over its last seven contests, but is still 17-12 in the month of August. The G-Braves are 3.0 games back of first-place Norfolk after splitting a four-game set at Coolray Field from Thursday through Sunday, and 5.5 games back of Columbus in the Wild Card race. Gwinnett is trying to reach the postseason for the first time since 2009 when it won the Wild Card.
