UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Nick Dunn's first three-hit night as a professional helped propel the State College Spikes to their third consecutive win as they downed the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 5-2, on Sunday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

Dunn, the Cardinals' 2018 fifth-round draft choice out of Maryland, also drove in a run with his double in the fourth to help increase the Spikes' (6-10) lead.

The Scrappers (11-4), who had come into the game with the New York-Penn League's best record, took the lead in the opening frame on Mitch Reeves's run-scoring double, but Lars Nootbaar gave the lead to State College in the bottom of the first with a single up the middle to produce his first two career runs batted in.

After Michael Tinsley tied the game with a single to right-center in the second, the Spikes jumped back in front in the bottom half of the same frame as Dunn's single and a subsequent error brought in a run.

Wadye Ynfante followed Dunn's fourth-inning double with a single to finish the scoring.

Nootbaar and Ynfante each recorded multi-hit games for the Spikes, who scored all five runs with two outs.

Eli Kraus made his first career start for State College, tossing 3 2/3 innings and allowing two runs on seven hits. Kraus notched two strikeouts in the effort.

Will Changarotty backed up Kraus with 1 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing one walk and striking out one batter. Chris Holba (1-1) then scattered four hits and struck out four batters over 3 1/3 innings for his first professional win.

Jacob Schlesener and Cory Malcom (2) then struck out the last two batters of the game to finish the win for the Spikes, with Malcom earning the save.

Mahoning Valley starter Zack Draper (1-1) took the loss after yielding five runs, four of them earned on eight hits and two walks over four innings. Draper struck out one batter during the night.

Reeves went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a double for the Scrappers, while Gabriel Mejia went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases.
