
Ducks Clinch Series with 5-1 Win against Patriots

Bridgewater, NJ - The Long Island Ducks (22-18, 68-42) defeated the Somerset Patriots (21-19, 71-39) 5-1 Thursday evening at TD Bank Ballpark.
In the bottom of the second inning center fielder Ricky Claudio recorded a RBI ground out to give Somerset a 1-0 advantage.
Long Island plated three runs in the top of the third inning to grab a 3-1 lead. Second baseman Carlos Hughes and left fielder Anthony Vega each socked RBI doubles while shortstop Dan Lyons pounded a RBI single.
The Ducks tacked on two more runs in the top of the fifth inning as Delta Cleary Jr. laced a RBI single and an additional run scored via a fielding error by Claudio so the score was 5-1 in favor of the Flock.
Bruce Kern earned the win (7-3) tossing eight innings while allowing one run. Lucas Irvine sustained the loss (6-7) tossing eight innings while surrendering five runs.
