August 20, 2015 - Atlantic League (AtL)
York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution hammered the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 11-2 on Wednesday night at Regency Furniture Stadium, winning back-to-back games and improving to 5-2 with one game remaining on their current road trip. York also improves to 22-17 in the second half, staying within three games of first place.

York opened the scoring in the top of the second. Bryan Pounds battled to earn his way on base with a one-out walk before Crabs starter Shaun Garceau also walked Telvin Nash. Luis De La Cruz kicked off a 4-for-4 night with an RBI single to center for the game's first run, and Jose Constanza followed with an RBI bloop single to left for a 2-0 lead.

The Revs added a run in the fourth as Nash fought his way on with a leadoff walk and De La Cruz banged another single to center. With one out, Wilson Valdez bounced into a fielder's choice, as second baseman Casey Stevenson's relay throw sailed high, allowing Nash to come home.

The lead grew to 5-0 in the fifth, as Andres Perez crushed a drive high off the center field fence for a leadoff triple, his club record 150th extra-base hit all-time with York. With one out, Pounds slammed a two-run homer to left-center, his 10th of the season.

Revs starter Logan Williamson (7-9) earned his second straight win and team-best 11th quality start. The lefty took a shutout into the seventh, having worked out of a bases loaded jam after a pair of walks and an infield hit in the fourth, and after working past a leadoff double from Tyler Wagner in the fifth.

Keith Castillo led off the bottom of the seventh with a homer to left and Zach Wilson brought Southern Maryland within 5-2 on a two-out RBI single to left, but reliever Ty'Relle Harris struck out Jovan Rosa to end the inning with the tying run on deck.

The Revs exploded for five runs in the eighth, turning the game lopsided. Nash and De La Cruz led off the inning with singles, while Constanza reached on a throwing error by reliever Wade Korpi to load the bases. Valdez scorched a liner to short that was caught for the first out, but the Revs methodically increased their lead as Patterson ripped an RBI single to center, Brandon Boggs took a bases loaded walk, Perez lined an RBI single to left, Yeicok Calderon drove in a run on an infield hit, and Pounds capped the rally with a sac fly to center. The Revs added one more on an RBI single to center by Boggs (3-for-5) in the ninth.

York's bullpen finished strong as Harris worked a scoreless eighth despite having runners at second and third with no outs. After a pair of walks and a wild pitch, Harris struck out two batters and retired Wagner on a broken bat liner to second. Beau Vaughan closed it out with a scoreless ninth.

Blue Crabs starter Shaun Garceau (3-3) took the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) in five innings in his first start back from the Mexican League. Korpi worked the final four innings to save a taxed bullpen, allowing the final six runs after working scoreless frames in the sixth and seventh.

Notes: The Revs improve to 16-9 in their last 25 games, and 10-5 in their last 15 contests. The Revs are now 8-2 vs. Southern Maryland in the second half after going just 2-8 in the first half. With 16 hits, the Revs are now batting .319 as a team over the last 16 games, having totaled at least 14 hits in eight of those games. The 11 runs is the Revs' third-highest total of the season, all in the last 12 games. York is now averaging 6.6 runs over the last 15 games. Patterson went 2-for-5 and broke a tie with Jason Aspito for seventh in Revs history in hits, now with 306. Patterson's ninth inning double broke a tie with James Shanks for fifth in club history in doubles, now with 69 during his York career. Revs righty Matt Neil (2-7, 4.56) will face Blue Crabs right-hander Brian Grening (3-7, 4.63) on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and on the WOYK mobile apps beginning at 6:45 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
