SUGAR LAND, Texas - Infielder Delwyn Young set the Sugar Land Skeeters all-time home run record with a solo blast to right in the bottom of the fourth inning as the Skeeters won their third-straight game with a 8-3 win over the Bridgeport Bluefish. The win improves the Skeeters' record to 17-23 in the second half and 53-57 overall.

Roy Merritt rebounded from a shaky start his last time out to pick up an easy victory this evening. The southpaw went 6.0 innings, allowing one run on nine hits with no walks and five strikeouts to improve to 6-5 on the season with the win.

Unlike the first three games of the series, the Skeeters were able to break the scoring seal in the bottom of the first. Jeff Dominguez rifled a one-out triple into the right-center alley before coming in to score on a sacrifice fly from Travis Scott. The triple was Dominguez's first of the season and fourth as a member of the Skeeters.

Sugar Land executed a perfect double-steal with runners on the corners in the bottom of the third to add a run. Willy Taveras singled through the left side of the infield for a one-out base hit and Dominguez drew a walk to put two aboard. Following a fly ball that allowed Taveras to move to third, Dominguez broke for second, but stopped halfway after drawing the throw. Taveras raced home, beating the throw to increase the lead to 2-0.

The Skeeters pushed across another lone run in the bottom of the fourth. Johan Limonta pulled a double down the left field line. It would appear that Limonta would be stranded at second on Denny Almonte's ground ball to second, but second baseman Josh Prince allowed the ball to roll between his legs, scoring Limonta easily from second, 3-0.

Bridgeport narrowed the score in the top of the fifth. Bryan Sabatella, Prince and Welington Dotel reached on three consecutive singles to trim the Skeeters lead to 3-1, but Merritt got a strikeout and a flyout to quell the rally.

After putting up individual runs in the first, third and fourth innings, the Skeeters exploded blasted back-to-back home runs for the first time this season in the bottom of the fifth. Taveras singled to third and Dominguez drew his second walk of the game to put the first two runners on for Scott. The Sugar Land first baseman launched his fourth home run of the season with a three-run blast to left. Delwyn Young followed with a moon shot to left for back-to-back jacks for the Skeeters, passing Josh Pressley's mark of 28 all-time to set the new Sugar Land record.

Bridgeport trimmed the deficit in the top of the seventh on Andrew Johnston, but the Skeeters bullpen held the lead to claim the third-straight win for just the second time in the second half of the season, 8-3.
