
Ducks Bats Quelled in North Carolina

(High Point, N.C.) - The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the High Point Rockers 11-0 on Tuesday night in the opener of a three-game series at BB&T Point.
The Rockers took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a leadoff solo home run to left-center field by Stephen Cardullo off Ducks starter Jake Fisher. Quincy Latimore doubled the lead with an RBI single to left in the fourth.
A three-run sixth inning by High Point extended their lead to 5-0, with Myles Schroder's two-run single to center highlighting the frame. The Rockers rounded out the scoring with a six-run eighth.
Rockers starter Seth Simmons (3-1) earned the win, tossing six scoreless innings, allowing two hits while striking out five. Fisher (2-2) took the loss, giving up five runs on nine hits and two walks over five and two-thirds innings with five strikeouts.
The Ducks and Rockers continue their three-game set on Wednesday morning. First pitch is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. from BB&T Point. Fans can follow all the action on the Long Island Ducks Broadcast Network. Live streaming video and audio will be available via BoxCast on LIDucks.com, Facebook Live and the Ducks official YouTube channel. Left-hander Sean Nolin (3-0, 1.69) takes the mound for the Ducks against Rockers righty Stephen Johnson (2-0, 3.27).
Long Island returns home on Friday, May 24, to open a three-game series against the Sugar Land Skeeters. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 12:35 (12:20 for full season ticket holders). Following the game, all fans in attendance will be treated to a Fireworks Spectacular. In addition, Ducks staff members will be handing out coupons for a free regular sub (no purchase necessary) and $2 off any size sub at Jersey Mike's Subs to fans as they exit the ballpark.
