GREENVILLE, SC - RHP Cody Buckel struck out 10 batters through 5.1 one-hit innings of work for the 1st-Half Northern Division Champion Hickory Crawdads, but the Greenville Drive struck against the bullpen for the 3-2 win, before 5,622 fans at Fluor Field in Greenville on Friday.

The Crawdads (45-32, 5-4) cracked the scoreless tie right away, plating a run in the top of the first inning against LHP Manuel Rivera. With one away, 2B Odubel Herrera was hit by a pitch, before quickly stealing second base. Herrera advanced to third on a single from C Tomas Telis, and then came home on a sacrifice fly by 1B Andrew Clark, giving the 'Dads the early 1-0 lead.

Buckel kept the Crawdads in front through the entirety of his start, tossing 5.1 scoreless innings and only surrendering one hit and one walk, while striking out a season-high 10 batters, including all three in the fifth frame. After Buckel exited with one away and no one on board in the bottom of the sixth, the Drive (44-35, 6-3) rallied against RHP Nick McBride (L, 0-1).

McBride retired the first batter he faced for the second out in the inning, but the Drive kept the frame alive with a walk by 2B Sean Coyle, sparking the comeback. LF Brandon Jacobs singled Coyle to third base and then swiped second, putting both runners in scoring position. DH Drew Hedman belted a two-run double and then was driven in on an RBI single by 1B Michael Almanzar, lifting the Drive into the 3-1 advantage.

The 'Dads attempted another ninth-inning comeback when 3B Christian Villanueva hammered a solo homer against RHP Dennis Neuman (S, 3), cutting the deficit down to just one run. However, Neuman managed to navigate through the remainder of the frame with just a walk, capping the 3-2 victory for the Drive. RHP Justin Erasmus (W, 2-0) dealt two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win for the Drive.
