Greenville Drive News Release
Augusta, GA - Two things have come naturally for the Drive all season - winning on the road and scoring runs with two outs in an inning. The Drive improved on both of their league-leading totals Tuesday night in a 5-3 victory in Augusta.
The Drive broke a scoreless tie in the top of the third as Yamaico Navarro singled home Ryan Kalish with two outs. An inning later Che-Hsuan added a two-out, two-run single.
On the mound, Eammon Portice held the GreenJackets scoreless for the first four frames of his 6.0 inning outing en route to his fourth victory of the season. In the fifth, Shane Jordan singled home a run and James Simmons stole home.
Lin added to the Drive's lead in the top of the sixth when he tripled home Manny Arambarris with two outs. Two innings later Yamaico Navarro provided an insurance run as he drew a two-out, bases loaded walk.
The GreenJackets scored their final run in the bottom of the eighth as they were able to take advantage of a pair of Drive errors. Simmons led off with a bunt single and later went to third on failed pickoff attempt by Chad Povich. A Yamaico Navarro throwing error would allow Simmons to score.
Felix Ventura tossed a perfect ninth inning to earn his team-leading sixth save of the season.
The Drive tallied 10 hits in the game as Lin, Kalish, Navarro, and Arambarris each collected a pair of hits.
The Drive return home to Fluor Field on tomorrow for a brief two-game series with these same GreenJackets with first pitch set for 7:05 PM. Greenville will send right-hander Terumasa Matsuo to the mound as Augusta counters with right-hander Oliver Odle.
In addition, tomorrow's game will have a "School's Out for Summer" theme. Single-game tickets, group outings, and luxury accommodations can be purchased by calling (864) 240-4500 or visit www.GreenvilleDrive.com for more information.
NOTES: The Drive finished their six-game road trip with a 5-1 record...RHP Chris Province was promoted earlier in the day to the Lancaster JetHawks and LHP Jose Capellan was received from Extended Spring Training
