
Two Run Hits Prevents Jackets Sweep of Greenville

Augusta, GA - The Augusta GreenJackets (34-24) dropped the second game of a short two-game home series to the Greenville Drive (32-27) on Tuesday night 5-3. Starter Chance Corgan recorded the loss in his first outing of the 2008 season and Augusta was held to just three hits in the game.
All five runs the Drive scored came with two outs in an inning and Augusta came as close as one run in the game getting two runs in the fifth inning to pull within 3-2. That's as close as Augusta got though as the Drive took a 4-2 lead in the sixth inning on a two-out RBI triple from Che-Hsuan Lin.
Greenville added another run in the eighth inning when reliever Dan Runzler issued a two-out bases loaded walk to Yamico Navarro.
The GreenJackets fell behind early in the game when Greenville took a 3-0 lead after the first four innings. In the third inning Navarro connected for a two-out RBI single to give the Drive a 1-0 lead. In the fourth inning Lin came through with a two-out, two-run single for a 3-0 advantage.
Corgan (0-1) allowed three runs on six hits over four innings while walking two and striking out two. Corgan was called up from extended spring training to make the spot start tonight.
Augusta scored its first two runs in the fifth inning on an RBI single from Shane Jordan with two outs in the frame. James Simmons scored the second run when he stole home base after Jordan broke for second.
The GreenJackets third and final run scored in the eighth inning when Brock Bond reached on a throwing error from Navarro allowing Simmons to score.
The GreenJackets travel to Greenville, SC to continue their home-and-away series with two games against the Drive. Augusta sends right-hander Oliver Odle (4-3, 3.83) to the mound on Wednesday night. The Drive counter with right-hander Terumasa Matusuo (2-1, 4.75). First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.

Augusta is 17-15 at home this season.
Augusta matched a season low for just three hits in a game.
Orlando Yntema worked three innings in relief of Corgan and allowed one run on three hits.
Dan Runzler allowed one run on one hit in one inning of work while walking two and hitting a batter.
Dan Turpen was the only pitcher for Augusta not to allow a run working a perfect ninth inning
