Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

CORPUS CHRISTI - Top Los Angeles Dodgers pitching prospect Dustin May and the Tulsa Drillers shut down the Hooks in a Sunday matinee at Whataburger Field, 5-0.

The Drillers registered only one RBI despite their five runs scored, due in part to a club-record five wild pitches, two hit batters and a crucial throwing error by Hooks pitching.

Brett Adcock made his best start of the season for Corpus Christi, playing Sunday as the Raspas for Minor League Baseball's Copa de la Diversion. Adcock got off to a shaky start, walking Angelo Mora and hitting Zach Reks in the first inning. He followed those with two wild pitches, allowing Mora to score the game's first run.

But Adcock (L, 0-4) settled in from there, scattering only two hits and two walks over 5.1 frames with five punchouts. One of those was a solo home run allowed to Zach McKinstry in the fifth that made it 2-0.

With a 3-0 lead in the eighth, the Drillers added a pair off Colin McKee after Mora led off with a single and Reks walked. McKee then induced a groundball back to the mound, which he hooked into centerfield for the third run. A double play allowed the next run to score for the 5-0 final.

May (W, 2-1), the Dodgers' No. 2 overall prospect, proved worth of the ranking Sunday with 5.0 shutout innings allowing four hits and a walk while fanning seven. He lowered his ERA to 1.50.

Lorenzo Quintana picked up his second straight two-hit game, notching a single and a double. Chuckie Robinson reached base three times in four plate appearances via hit-by-pitch, single and walk. Abraham Toro extended his Texas League-best on-base streak to 19 games with a walk in the eighth.

Mora reached three times and scored each time for Tulsa.

The Hooks look to even the series Monday at 6:15 p.m. with Brandon Bailey (0-0, 3.86) scheduled to start. The Drillers are yet to announce their starter.
