
Dragons Win Nightcap 7-2 to Earn Doubleheader Split at Lake County

Eastlake, Ohio - Dayton pitchers Kevin Abel, Myles Gayman, and Brock Bell combined to allow just one earned run as the Dragons defeated the Lake County Captains 7-2 in the second game of a doubleheader on Friday. The win gave the Dragons a split of the twin bill after Lake County won the first game, 8-0.
Game Recap:
The Captains hit three home runs in the first game to take an 8-0 win. The Dragons had just two hits, doubles by Cade Hunter and Hector Rodriguez. Lake County led 1-0 before scoring five runs in the fourth inning to take a commanding 6-0 lead.
In the second game, the Dragons scored four runs without a hit in the second inning, taking advantage of two walks, two hit batsmen, a wild pitch, and a pair of RBI ground outs to jump out to a 4-0 lead.
The Dragons scored again in the third, keyed by a double by Sal Stewart. In the fourth, they added two more. Hunter doubled and scored on a single by Ruben Ibarra. Jay Allen II then doubled to drive in Ibarra to make it 7-1.
Abel started for Dayton and worked four innings, allowing one unearned run on four hits with one walk and four strikeouts. Gayman (1-3) was credited with the win. He worked two innings, allowing one run. Bell pitched a scoreless final inning.
Up Next: The Dragons (13-18) and Lake County (19-12) will meet again in Eastlake on Saturday night at 6:35 p.m. Javi Rivera (0-1, 10.29) will start for Dayton against Lake County's Austin Peterson (4-1, 2.08). The series will conclude on Sunday at 12:05 pm.
