
Dragons Tyler Mahle Named to MWL Full-Season All-Star Team

DAYTON, OHIO-The 2015 Midwest League full-season all-star team was announced today by Richard A. Nussbaum II, President of the Midwest League of Professional Baseball Clubs. The team was selected by the managers of the 16 Midwest League member clubs. The team includes one player per position.
Ty Mahle (pronounced to rhyme with rally) of the Dayton Dragons was selected as the right-handed starting pitcher on the all-star team. Mahle becomes the 17th player in Dragons history to be selected to the MWL full-season all-star team and the first-ever starting pitcher.
Mahle is 11-7 with a 2.51 earned run average. He is tied for the Midwest League lead in ERA, tied for second in strikeouts (123), tied for third in innings pitched (136), and fourth in victories. He was also the league's pitcher of the month for July and pitched in the mid-season Midwest League All-Star Game in Peoria, Illiniois.
Mahle, 20, is a native of Westminster, California. He was the Reds seventh round draft pick in 2013.
The last Dragons players selected to the Midwest League full-season all-star team were Billy Hamilton (as the shortstop) and Drew Hayes (as the right-handed relief pitcher) in 2011.

The Dragons (24-30 in the second half; 63-61 overall) play in Eastlake, Ohio tonight against the Lake County Captains at 7:00 p.m. The next home game for the Dragons is Thursday, August 27 against the Bowling Green Hot Rods at Fifth Third Field.
