Gerber Named to MWL Post Season All-Star Team
August 24, 2015 - Midwest League (MWL1)
West Michigan Whitecaps News Release
COMSTOCK PARK, MI - The West Michigan Whitecaps are proud to announce the naming of outfielder Mike Gerber to the 2015 Midwest League Post Seaton All-Star Roster, the league announced Monday.
A midseason all-star, Gerber enters play Monday having participated in a league-high 121 games, batting .299 with 11 home runs and 66 RBI. The 23-year-old outfielder has more total bases than any player in the league, and ranks third among Whitecaps players in stolen bases with 16. He leads West Michigan in hits, triples, home runs, and RBI. "I saw a lot of the guys on this list when we were in Peoria for the All-Star Game in June," Gerber said. "Just to be put into the category as many of these guys who have had such fantastic years is something really I'm thankful for."
West Michigan remains five games in front of the Captains and South Bend Cubs in the race for the Eastern Division wildcard, and Gerber's everyday presence has been a huge reason to the Whitecaps' success. "[Mike] really deserves this," Whitecaps manager Andrew Graham said. "Not only has his offense been good for us, but his defense has really improved as he's been playing a lot of right field for us."
