Dayton Dragons News Release
Dayton, Ohio - The Dayton Dragons consecutive game sell-out streak reached a milestone on Saturday night as the Dragons completed their 1,000th consecutive sold out date at Fifth Third Field. The Dragons defeated the Fort Wayne TinCaps 6-4.
Saturday night's attendance of 9,507 was the largest crowd of the year and just 51 short of the all-time Fifth Third Field record of 9,558 set on August 1, 2009.
The Dragons briefly stopped the game at the end of the fifth inning after it had become an official contest. The team unveiled a permanent banner on the left field fence commemorating the milestone. The Dragons also celebrated the event with a balloon release as all Dragons players emerged from the dugout and saluted the fans.
The Dragons broke the all-time North American record for consecutive sold-out dates on July 9, 2011 when they reached their 815th straight sell-out, surpassing the previous record of 814 set by the Portland Trail Blazers of the National Basketball Association from 1977-'95.
Every game in the Dragons 15-year history has been a sell-out at Fifth Third Field, beginning with the Dragons inaugural opening night on April 27, 2000.
