Bees Swept by Cougars

(Burlington-IA)- The Burlington Bees (16-18) dropped the series finale to the Kane County Cougars (25-10) 2-1 in 11 innings on Saturday night at Community Field. The Kane County Cougars swept the Bees for the second time this season.

Kody Eaves led off the bottom of the first with a single to right, extending his hitting streak to five games. Later in the inning Angel Rosa singled back up the middle driving in Eaves, giving the Bees a 1-0 lead.

Bees' starter Ryan Etsell, making his sixth start, pitched six quality innings for the Bees allowing just one run on four hits while walking one and striking out four in a no decision.

Kane County tied the game up in the sixth inning thanks to Will Remillard who singled in Daniel Lockhart with a line drive to right center.

For the second time in the series the game would head to extra innings. Kane County was able to break the deadlock in the 11th inning when Jordan Hankins drove in his fourth run of the series with a single to left.

The Bees offense was shut down by the Cougars bullpen and went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 11th. Cougars' reliever James Pugliese (1-0) worked three scoreless innings, striking out seven, earning the win. Trevor Foss (0-3) was charged with the loss for the Bees.

After a day off on Sunday the Bees will head to Clinton to start a three game series on Monday, May 12th with the LumberKings at 6:30 PM. Clint Sharp makes the start for the Bees against Carlos Misell for the LumberKings.
