2018 Team Notes
The Dragons have been the streakiest team in professional baseball in 2018. They started the year with a three-game losing streak, won the next nine games, lost the next eight, won nine of 10, lost the next eight, won seven of eight, lost the next three, and have split their last four games.
The Dragons team ERA in their 27 wins is 3.25 (241 IP, 87 ER). The ERA in the 26 losses is 7.47 (217 IP, 180 ER).
The Dragons are 20-10 at home; 7-16 on the road. Their team ERA at home is 4.17 compared to 6.69 on the road. They are scoring more runs per game on the road (5.0) than at home (4.2). They have allowed 24 unearned runs on the road compared to 11 at home.
The Dragons are 2-15 this season vs. Lansing and Bowling Green; 25-11 vs. the rest of the league.
In an indication of the Dragons high number of close games, they lead the league in saves with 18 but also have eight blown saves. They are 14-10 in one-run games, with 24 of their 53 games decided by one run. Only one of the eight blown saves was in the ninth inning and they still won that game (vs. Lake County April 12-dropped popup with 2 outs in top of 9th with walk-off win). They are 21-0 when leading after eight innings.
2018 Individual Notes
Hendrik Clementina is hitting .331 on the year with a .661 slugging percentage. He is tied for second in the MWL in home runs with nine and ranks in the top 10 in RBI with 33 despite not having enough plate appearances to qualify for the batting lead. With his current averages, he would lead the league in slugging percentage and rank fourth in batting average if he qualified.
Stuart Fairchild is batting .338 over his last 20 games to raise his average from .277 to .301. His 11-game hitting streak ended Tuesday night.
John Ghyzel ranks first in the MWL lead in saves with 10. In 19 appearances, he has a 1.42 ERA.
Cory Thompson has allowed earned runs in just two of his 19 relief appearances, posting a 1.38 ERA.
