River Bandits Steal One from Snappers in Extras

DAVENPORT, IA - The Beloit Snappers (25-28) fell 10-9 in extras to the Quad Cities River Bandits (31-25) on a Corey Julks two-run double at Modern Woodman Park Saturday night.

With one out in the bottom of the 10th inning and the River Bandits trailing 9-8, Corey Julks pinch hit for Jonathan Lacroix with the tying and go-ahead run aboard. Julks then laced a two-run double to right-center field to Quad Cities a 10-9 walk-off victory.

The Snappers held a 7-3 lead after six, but surrendered three runs in the seventh and two in the eighth, as the River Bandits took a 8-7 lead after 8.

Trailing 8-7, Mickey McDonald led off the ninth with a double to right-center field to put the tying run in scoring position. After a Jack Meggs fly out to center, Austin Beck laced an RBI single down the left field line to score McDonald but Beck was thrown out at second trying to stretch the single into a double.

With the game tied at 8, the Snappers turned to Josh Reagan in the ninth and the southpaw tossed a 1-2-3 frame.

With Hunter Hargrove starting the 10th inning at second base, Trace Loehr sent an RBI single down the left field line to give the Snappers a then 9-8 lead before surrendering the two runs in the bottom half.

Beloit jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning of the bat of Logan Farrar who launched a three-run home run to right-center field into the Mississippi River. For Farrar, it was his seventh homer of the year which ties him for seventh in the Midwest League.

The Snappers with a 3-2 lead in hand in the fourth, the Snappers rallied for another three-run frame. Lopez doubled home Hargrove, and he later scored on a sac fly by Skyler Weber before Nick Allen plated Trace Loehr to up the Snappers lead to 6-2.

Lopez then launched a solo home run to lead off the Snappers sixth inning, the fifth homer of the year for the third baseman gave Beloit a 7-3 lead in the sixth.

The comeback for the Bandits began in the 7th, as Jonathan Arauz sent an RBI single to center field to score Jake Meyers to make the score 7-4. Jake Adams then sent a two-run home run to left-center field to bring the River Bandits within a run. Bryan De La Cruz then sent a two-run single to left in the eighth to give Quad Cities a 8-7 lead.

The Snappers will conclude their three-game series Saturday night. The rubber match of the series is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. and pitching for the Snappers will be right-hander Xavier Altamirano (3-2, 2.50). The River Bandits will send out right-hander Cesar Rosado (2-2, 4.06).
