
Bryan Sammons activated from 7-day DL

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that LHP Bryan Sammons has been activated from the 7-day DL and RHP Brusdar Graterol has been placed on the 7-day DL, retroactive to May 30th, with a contusion on his right hand. Brian Maloney, Twins Senior Manager of Minor League Operations, announced the move.
Sammons went on the DL back on May 26th. He has made eight starts for the Kernels this season, posting a 1-3 record and 2.70 ERA. In 40 IP, he allowed 33 hits and 15 runs (12 earned) with 12 walks and 35 strikeouts. He was selected by the Twins in the 8th round of the 2017 First Year Player Draft out of Western Carolina.
Graterol has made five starts for the Kernels this season, posting a 2-1 record and 1.78 ERA. In 17 IP, he allowed 12 hits and seven runs (five earned) with six walks and 36 strikeouts. He was signed by the Twins as a non-drafted free agent on August 29, 2014
In addition, RHP Griffin Jax has been activated from the Military Leave list and assigned to Fort Myers.
Sammons is active and scheduled to be the starting pitcher for tonight's 6:30 PM game at Burlington. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster remains at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with six players currently on the DL.
The Kernels are in the midst of a three-game commuter series at Burlington that continues tonight at 6:30 PM. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, June 5th to host Beloit.
