Dragons On The Field

The Dragons will be returning home from a three game road trip against the Great Lakes Loons in Midland, Michigan. Shortstop Billy Hamilton has gotten off to a whirlwind start stealing 14 bases in 14 games and ranks second in all of baseball in stolen bases. The Dragons as a team are ranked second in all of Minor League Baseball (120 teams playing), trailing only the Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies of the Pacific Coast League.

Dayton pitchers allowed just five runs on 12 hits in 27 innings in the three-game series with Bowling Green. The starting pitching trio of Daniel Corcino, Tanner Robles, and Daniel Tuttle led the way for a combined 1.67 ERA for all Dragons pitchers in the three game set. All three of those pitchers received a win in their starts this week.

Former major leaguer Delino DeShields leads the squad as the Dragons manager in 2011. He is in his third season in the Reds organization, having served as the manager of the Billings Mustangs last year and as the hitting coach in Billings in 2009. Tony Fossas is in his third season as pitching coach, and Alex Pelaez works in his first year as the team's hitting coach.
