Geneva, IL - The Clinton LumberKings built a 4-1 lead on the strength of a season-high four triples over the first four innings, but Kane County scored seven unanswered runs and won 8-4 on Thursday night at Elfstrom Stadium.

Tim Morris tripled and scored on a Marcus Littlewood sacrifice fly to give the Kings a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Gerard Hall's RBI double in the second tied the score at 1-1, but the Clinton bats erupted for three runs in the fourth to take a 4-1 lead. Ramon Morla tripled to right-center and scored on Morris's single past the drawn-in infield. Littlewood then recorded his first career extra-base hit - a triple to right-center - to score Morris. Steven Baron capped the inning with a two-out RBI single to left scoring Littlewood.

Right-hander Seon Gi Kim left three runners on base over the first four innings but hit the wall in the fifth. Hall and Alex Llanos reached on singles and Yowill Espinal walked to load the bases. Kim then hit Brian Fletcher with a pitch to force home a run, and a sacrifice fly by Lane Adams and RBI single by Murray Watts tied the score. Kim allowed four runs - three earned - on eight hits over 4.2 innings in a no-decision.

Right-hander Matt Bischoff stranded a pair of runners to get out of the fifth, but right-hander Fray Martinez yielded the go-ahead runs in the sixth. Ryan Jenkins and Hall reached on singles and scored on a two-out, two-run single by Fletcher. Martinez (L, 0-1) allowed those two runs on three hits and struck out two over just one inning of work.

Left-hander Edlando Seco served up an RBI double to Ryan Stovall and RBI single to Llanos in the seventh, putting the game out of reach.

Cougars' starter Keaton Hayenga exited after 5.0 innings with four runs on six hits but received a no-decision. Right-hander Dusty Odenbach (W, 1-1) worked 2.0 scoreless innings of relief for the victory.

Morris finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored, an RBI and two stolen bases in the losing cause for Clinton. Julio Morban went 1-for-3 with a walk to extend his on-base streak to nine-straight games.

The LumberKings (4-11) will try and put an end to a five-game losing streak when they take on Kane County (6-9) in game two of the series tomorrow night at 6:00 PM. Right-hander Forrest Snow (0-1, 3.86) makes his fourth start for Clinton, while the Cougars counter with left-hander Crawford Simmons (0-2, 6.75).
