Today's Game: The Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Silver Hawks (affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks) in the first game of a three-game set. Season Series: South Bend 5, Dayton 1. (At South Bend: South Bend 3, Dayton 0).
Streaks: Dayton: Won 4 after going 5-32 over previous 37 games. South Bend: Won 2.
Last Game: Dayton defeated Lake County 11-5 to complete a sweep of the four-game series. The Dragons matched a season-high with eight runs in the third inning, capped by a three-run home run by Alex Oliveras to take a commanding 10-2 lead. Dayton finished with 14 hits. Didi Gregorius and Josh Garton each had three hits. Dominic D'Anna had two hits and drove in four runs. Mark Fleury added two hits and two RBI. Tim Crabbe was the starter and winner for the Dragons, allowing five runs (three earned) in five innings. Josh Smith and Daniel Renken each pitched two scoreless innings of relief. The Dragons were 7 for 10 with men in scoring position.
Today's Starting Pitcher: Daniel Corcino makes his fourth start with the Dragons tonight. He has not allowed a run over his last two starts covering 10.2 innings. In his last start on Friday at Great Lakes, Corcino was not involved in the decision despite allowing just two base runners (5.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 SO). Corcino joined the Dragons from Billings (Pioneer League), where he made nine starts, going 1-3 with a 3.40 ERA (ninth in the league at the time of his promotion). He is a 19-year-old native of the Dominican Republic. He was signed as an international free agent on January 11, 2008. This is his third season in the Reds organization.
