Drag Kings to Perform at Triple-A All-Star Game
June 22, 2010 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Fresno Grizzlies News Release
Fresno, CA - The Fresno Grizzlies are proud to announce that their famous dancing grounds crew, The Drag Kings, will perform at the Triple-A All-Star Game on July 14th at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, PA. Immensely popular with Chukchansi Park fans, The Drag Kings will take their act on the road for the first time to perform in front of the fans of the host Lehigh Valley IronPigs. The Triple-A All-Star Game between the Pacific Coast League and International League will be nationally televised on MLB Network.
After making their debut during the Opening Weekend of the 2007 season, The Drag Kings have become a beloved part of the Grizzlies' award-winning game entertainment operation. Combining a skillful attention to detail while raking the Chukchansi Park infield with tightly choreographed dance routines, the foursome has already been immortalized with its own t-shirts, calendars, and bobbleheads. In 2009, industry website GameOps.com awarded The Drag Kings with an honorable mention in the "Best Entertainment Team" category which recognizes performance groups in all sports from across the country in both Major and Minor Leagues. The Drag Kings popularity in Fresno has landed them several features and interviews with local media outlets and their originality has spawned similar dancing grounds crews with baseball teams around the nation.
During the Triple-A All-Star Game the stakes will be raised for The Drag Kings, as they will square off against the host team's own dancing grounds crew. As the best players in the Pacific Coast League and International League battle for supremacy on the field, Fresno's Drag Kings will engage in a good natured showdown with Lehigh Valley's "Dancing Dirt Dudes." Each crew will have their own inning break during the game to entertain the capacity crowd at Coca-Cola Park.
"It's an absolute honor for The Drag Kings to be asked to perform at such a high profile event and the invitation really speaks to the level of popularity they have gained locally and nationally," said Grizzlies Senior Vice President of Marketing Scott Carter. "The guys are extremely excited to represent not only Fresno but also the entire Pacific Coast League, since they will be performing opposite the best in the International League."
Fans can ensure that the first-place Grizzlies, owners of the PCL's best record, send a strong contingent of players to accompany The Drag Kings by voting online at www.fresnogrizzlies.com. Online voting for the Triple-A All-Star Game concludes this Friday, June 25. For Drag Kings video highlights, visit the FGTV page under the Multimedia tab on the Grizzlies official website.
