
Doubront Pitches Six Strong Innings in Sea Dogs Win

Portland, Maine - Anthony Rizzo hit his first Double-A home run and Felix Doubront tossed six strong innings as the Sea Dogs (19-12) defeated the Binghamton Mets (19-14) 7-2 Wednesday night at Hadlock Field in front of 4,057 fans. The Sea Dogs took two out of three from the Binghamton Mets and have now won 12 of their last 16 games.
Luis Exposito had an RBI double in the fourth scoring Ryan Kalish giving the Sea Dogs a 2-1 lead. Yamaico Navarro would add RBI doubles in the fourth and the sixth as he extended his on base streak to 16 games.
Rizzo blasted a two run homer in the eighth to cap the scoring for the Sea Dogs. Rizzo also added a sacrifice fly scoring Kalish in the sixth. Rizzo now has 4 RBI in just two Double-A games with the Sea Dogs.
Felix Doubront (3-0) held the Binghamton Mets to one run on five hits in six innings of work. He struck out four and walked four. The Sea Dogs are now 7-0 on the season when Doubront starts.
Juan Apodaca hit his second home run of the year in the third inning to tie the game at one apiece.
Binghamton designated hitter Marshall Hubbard drove in both of the Binghamton runs. Hubbard had a RBI single scoring Nick Evans in the third giving Binghamton a 1-0 lead. He would add a sacrifice fly in the eighth.
Mike Antonini (3-3) suffered the loss for Binghamton yielding five runs on six hits in 5.2 innings of work.
Portland relievers Ryne Lawson and Bryce Cox would pitch the final three innings to secure the victory for the Sea Dogs.
The Portland Sea Dogs travel to Manchester, New Hampshire on Thursday for a four game weekend series against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Sea Dogs righty Ryne Miller (1-1, 4.18) gets the start for the Sea Dogs at 7:05 PM Thursday. He will be opposed by New Hampshire righty Bobby Bell (2-2, 6.67).
