Reading Fightin Phils News Release

The Reading Phillies scored in two-straight innings on Wednesday - unfortunately it was not nearly enough to win the finale.

David Cooper homered, Bubbie Buzachero tossed four solid frames out of the bullpen, and the Reading Phillies dropped Wednesday's series finale to New Hampshire by a score of 10-3 in front of 7,996 fans on Education Day at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Buzachero (3-0, 8.10) allowed one run over four innings of relief to earn the victory. Buzachero, a native of Livingston, TN, enter the game in relief of starter Zach Stewart, who allowed two runs over just three innings of work. Originally drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 23rd round of the 2002 First-Year Player Draft, Buzachero, 28, went 1-2 with a 1.74 ERA last season for the Fisher Cats in 2009.

Ranked as the number four prospect in the Toronto system by Baseball America, Cooper, 23, launched a three-run homer off R-Phils' starter Phillippe Aumont (1-3, 6.61) in a four-run fifth inning, which helped the Fisher Cats to their second-straight win over Reading. Drafted in the first round (17th overall) in the 2008 draft, Cooper broke-out of an 0-9 slump in the series with his first long ball of the season. He finished the game 1-5 with the homer and three RBIs.

Aumont continued his struggles, allowing seven runs (five earned) over just 4.2 innings, en-route to dropping his second-straight start. The 21-year-old righty has now allowed 17 runs (15 earned) over his last 9.2 innings pitched. Over that three-game period, Aumont has gone 0-2 with a 13.97 ERA, and has walked 16 batters.

RF Domonic Brown once again led the way offensively for the R-Phils (12-20), who dropped four of six games on the homestand. Brown, who is ranked as the number one prospect in the Philadelphia organization by Baseball America, launched a solo home run in the first inning, to give the R-Phils a 1-0 lead. The homer, his seventh of the season, was the second-straight day in which he homered in the first inning. It was his sixth home run over his last eleven games, and he is now batting .381 with 6 home runs and 14 RBIs in the month of May.

The R-Phils now travel to Akron to face the Aeros for a four-game series beginning with Thursday's 7:05 p.m. contest.

Taking the ball for the R-Phils in the opening game will be LHP Yohan Flande (1-3, 2.80). Flande, a native of El Seibo, Dominican Republic allowed five runs (four earned) in his last start of the season back on May 8 against Akron. He'll face the same team again on Thursday, and will look to get the R-Phils back in the win column. On the hill for the Aeros on Thursday will be LHP Eric Berger (0-1, 12.54).

Join Brian Seltzer, who will have the call for the R-Phils pre-game show on ESPN Radio 1240 AM WIOV and readingphillies.com beginning at 6:35 p.m. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. from Akron, OH.

Phillers... Ty Taubenheim allowed two runs (one earned) over 1.1 innings pitched... His ERA now stands at 23.82 for the season (4.1 innings pitched)... Michael Stutes tossed two scoreless innings... Quintin Berry added an RBI groundout, his second of the season in the bottom of the second inning... The R-Phils dropped two of three to Akron earlier in the homestand in Reading.
