New Britain Rock Cats News Release
The New Britain Rock Cats of the Eastern League made a roster move today, receiving INF Yangervis Solarte from Ft. Myers in the Single-A, Florida State League. Both Double-A New Britain and Ft. Myers are affiliates of the American League's Minnesota Twins.
A 22-year-old native of Valencia, Venezuela, Solarte was off to a fast start in Ft. Myers this season. The 5'11"/176-pound switch-hitter departed Florida with a solid .330 BA, with 6 Doubles and 2 HRs included in his total of 30 Hits. Moreover, he collected 9 RBI in 24 games for the 2010 Miracle.
Signed by Minnesota as a non-drafted Free Agent in June of 2005, the slick-fielding Infielder is no stranger to New Britain, having joined the Rock Cats for their Playoff stretch run in 2009. He appeared in 3 games in New Britain last year and batted .143 in his Double-A debut.
He will join the Rock Cats today.
