Auburn Doubledays News Release

Williamsport, PA - A two-run single by Matt Skole in the eleventh inning powered the Auburn Doubledays over the Williamsport Crosscutters in the second game of a two-game series at Historic Bowman Field on Wednesday night.

The base-hit by Skole, his third of the game, scored Jeremy Mayo and Hendry Jimenez, giving the Doubledays a 5-3 win and kept Auburn over the .500 mark at 17-16 on the season.

Making his third start of the year for Auburn, Brian Dupra was nothing short of phenomenal, pitching six shutout innings for his first quality start of the year. He left after the sixth inning, carrying a 3-0 lead. It looked like he would cruise to his second win of the season but the Crosscutters had different plans.

Against reliever Travis Henke in the seventh inning, the 'Cutters rallied for three runs on three hits, keyed by a two-RBI single by Luis Unda and a game-tying RBI double by Bob Stumpo. The rally tied the game at three and left Dupra with a no-decision.

Ben Grisz came out of the Auburn pen after Henke and pitched the rest of the way, tossing four scoreless innings. Williamsport got the lead-off man aboard in the ninth and tenth innings and each time Grisz stranded him on base. Grisz's outing matched the longest by a Doubleday reliever this year and earned Grisz his first professional win.

In addition to great outings by Dupra and Grisz, the Doubledays were also led by Matt Skole's 3 for 6 effort at the plate that included a two-RBI double in the third and the two-RBI single in the eleventh.

Auburn returns home on Thursday for a quick two-game series with the Crosscutters. Thursday is Senator Nozzolio Community Night in addition to Dollar Night, where hot dogs, sodas, peanuts, and beer are each one dollar. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm at Falcon Park.
