August 31, 2015 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - The Pacific Coast League announced today the 2015 All-PCL Team, as elected by the league's field managers and media representatives. Outfielder Domingo Santana, a July 30 trade deadline acquisition by the Milwaukee Brewers from the Houston Astros, was named to the team as one of three outfielders.
Santana, 23, played in 20 games with the Sky Sox after the trade hitting .380 (30-for-79) with two home runs, one triple, five doubles, 13 runs scored and 18 RBI. He had at least one hit in 15-of-20 games including nine multi-hit games. In 95 PCL games including 75 games with Triple-A Fresno, Santana hit .333 (118-for-354) with 18 home runs, 23 doubles, 75 runs and 77 RBI. At the time of his promotion he ranked first in the PCL in slugging (.573) and on-base percentage (.426) and second in batting average.
The elected infield features Tacoma's Jesus Montero at first base, Nashville's Joey Wendle at second base, Fresno's Matt Duffy at third base and Albuquerque's Cristhian Adames at shortstop. Duffy's run production has been one of the best in the league, as he leads the circuit with 101 RBI and 88 runs scored. Wendle has recorded a PCL-high 156 hits for the year, while Montero (.346) and Adames (.311) both rank in the top six in batting average.
Austin Barnes earned the nod at catcher, after hitting .315 and swiping 12 bases for Oklahoma City. Reno's Jamie Romak was voted in as the designated hitter, having hit the second-most home runs in the PCL with 25 round-trippers.
The other two outfield spots belong to El Paso's Alex Dickerson and Reno's Peter O'Brien. Dickerson has led the Chihuahuas with a .309 average and 82 runs scored in his first campaign at the Triple-A level. O'Brien's 96 RBI is one shy of tying the Aces' single-season record.
Iowa's Carlos Pimentel was elected as the top right-handed starting pitcher, tabulating a league-best 12 wins and 2.92 ERA. The native of the Dominican Republic has also struck out 109 batters in 132.1 innings this season. Adam Conley received the most votes among left-handed starters, winning ten games and recording a 2.52 ERA for New Orleans, before joining the Miami Marlins' pitching staff in August. Jon Edwards was voted the league's best relief pitcher, thanks to a 1.26 ERA and a PCL-high 22 saves that he accumulated during his time with El Paso and Round Rock.
Below is the PCL's end of the season awards schedule with the Rookie of the Year slated to be announced tomorrow.
- Rookie of the Year - Tuesday, Sept. 1
