Chicago Dogs News Release
Rosemont, Ill. - Treysen Vavra hit the first Dogs home run at Impact Field but Chicago could not recover from a two-run deficit, falling to the Kansas City T-Bones in the second of a three-game series Saturday night 4-2.
For the second consecutive night, the T-Bones captured the first lead of the game on an RBI double from Tucker Pennell in the second inning to score Dexter Kjerstad. By the end of the third inning, the T-Bones sat on a three-run advantage after a double from Nick Torres that hustled Dylan Tice home and a deep single from Cal Towey that scored Nick Torres.
As the lone response to a loaded T-Bone inning, Treysen Vavra cut into the Dogs deficit by rocketing a solo home run, his second of the season, to put the Dogs on the board and slash the deficit to three runs.
Following a T-Bone insurance run in the fifth, a product of an error that brought home Dylan Tice for his second run of the night, Josh Goossen-Brown came home on what would be the final Dogs run of the game courtesy of a fielder's choice.
The T-Bones had traffic on the base paths all night long, but failed to capitalize on a few late-inning chances allowing the Dogs to keep the score close. Kansas City stranded 16 men on base and finished the game 3-17 with runners in scoring position.
Chicago mounted their final rally in the ninth inning, putting the first two runners on, but ultimately failing to advance either of them to bring a close to their sixth straight loss.
The Dogs and T-Bones will play the final game of the series tomorrow at 1 p.m. Connor Root will start for Chicago, and Tommy Collier will make the start for Kansas City. The game will be broadcast on www.thechicagodogs.com/broadcasts with the pregame show beginning at 12:45 p.m.
