'Dogs Complete Sweep on Father's Day, 5-3 at Bowie

Bowie, Md. - The Portland Sea Dogs (26-41) scored five times in the first inning and never looked back, defeating the Bowie Baysox (29-37) 5-3 on Sunday afternoon at Prince George's Stadium. Portland completed a three-game sweep of the Baysox and won four straight to end the trip.

Portland right to work off losing pitcher Lucas Long (1-8). Danny Mars led off the game with a single, and Chad De La Guerra smacked a two-run homer. The Sea Dogs loaded the bases with one out and received a two-run single from Luke Tendler. Austin Rei followed with a sacrifice fly.

Lefty Matt Kent (W, 4-4) was sensational over six innings, allowing just one run on a homer by Martin Cervenka in the second inning. Kent yielded only one run over 13 innings pitched in two starts on the trip.

Bowie made it interesting in the ninth inning off Jordan Weems. Audry Perez hit a two-run homer with nobody out. Weems faced the tying run to three consecutive batters to end the game.

De La Guerra, Mars and Tendler each had two hits. Travis Lakins and Adam Lau worked scoreless innings of relief.

The Sea Dogs are off on Monday and open up a four-game series in three days on Tuesday night against the Reading Fightin Phils (Phillies affiliate) at Hadlock Field. Tuesday night is a single-admission doubleheader beginning at 5:00 PM.
