DockHounds Defeat Goldeyes in Dramatic Fashion

OCONOMOWOC, WI - Lake Country DockHounds (6-13) first baseman Marcus Chiu's bottom of the ninth single sealed a 5-4 win over the Winnipeg Goldeyes (8-11) on Friday night at Wisconsin Brewing Company Park. The Goldeyes are on a season-high four-game losing streak.
Winnipeg jumped to a 4-1 lead after three innings. Designated hitter Dayson Croes for the third straight contest extended his hitting streak leading off the game. He's hit safely in 16 straight games. On Friday, he had four hits, the most for a Winnipeg player this season. Croes' second inning hit was an RBI single. First baseman Tommy McCarthy had an RBI double in the first while third baseman Keith Torres and center fielder Tra Holmes each had RBI singles in the third.
Goldeyes starter Joey Matulovich lasted five innings (the most for him this year). He allowed eight hits, three runs (two earned), walked three and fanned five. He remains 0-2.
Samuel Adames (0-1) faced two batters in the ninth. The Chiu hit was after a leadoff ground rule double by Lake Country shortstop Demetrius Sims and a passed ball by Winnipeg catcher Hidekel Gonzalez.
DockHounds starter Adam Hartman gave up four runs (all earned) in seven innings, 11 hits, no walks and struck out six. Jojanse Torres (1-1) pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the win.
The teams reconvene on Saturday night at 6:05. Right-hander Luis Ramirez (2-1) will be the probable for Winnipeg against Lake Country righty Nick Herold (2-1).
Winnipeg returns home to Shaw Park Tuesday June, 6 against the Chicago Dogs.
