Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Friday night's match-up between West Tennessee and Chattanooga took 14 innings to finally determine a winner. A Carlos Peguero solo homer was the pivotal play of the game that gave the Diamond Jaxx a 3-2 win at AT&T Field.

West Tennessee jumped off to an early 1-0 lead in the second frame on a RBI single from the bat of Leury Bonilla. The Lookouts tied up the score in the bottom of the third. Elian Herrera hit a one-out triple to set the stage for a subsequent run-resulting ground out from Dee Gordon.

Lookouts starting pitcher Rubby De La Rosa and his counterpart, Jarrett Grube, continued to pitch sublimely through the middle innings; however, Chattanooga finally broke the deadlock on a Cory Smith solo shot in the seventh inning to put the score at 2-1.

Despite being down 2-1 and entering the ninth inning against dominant Lookouts closer Jon Huber, West Tennessee gave it the ole college try and succeeded. Johan Limonta started the rally with a one-out double. After a Guillermo Quiroz strike out, Carlos Peguero hit a slow-rolling grounder up the first-base side. Huber attempted to apply the tag on Peguero, but missed, and made an errant throw, resulting in Limonta scoring from second and tying the game.

The outcome of the game was not determined until the 14th inning, when Peguero blasted a solo shot to give the Diamond Jaxx the 3-2 win.

Tomorrow, the Lookouts hit the road to play a five-game series against the Carolina Mudcats. The Lookouts will be back in town on Thursday, August 12th to play a five-game homestand against the Tennessee Smokies. Tickets for this game or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
