Diamond Jaxx take four of five from Lookouts after 3-2 win on Friday

CHATTANOOGA, TENN. - Carlos Peguero's 20th homer of the season, in the top of the 14th inning, provided the Diamond Jaxx (19-22) with their fourth straight win over the Chattanooga Lookouts (17-23), 3-2. The game took 4 hours and 24 minutes on Friday night at AT&T Field. The Jaxx finish the 10-game road trip 5-5, after starting it 1-5. The Jaxx lead the season series over Chattanooga, 11-4 and are 8-1 at AT&T Field. There were a total of 424 pitches thrown in the game.

Dan Cortes (6-4) earned his first win since being moved to the bullpen. Cortes' fastball reached 102 miles per hour on Friday and he worked three scoreless innings, while striking out five batters. Luis Munoz dealt three scoreless innings as well for West Tenn and struck out five also. Aaron Jensen earned his third save of the season by pitching a scoreless bottom of the 14th inning. Justin Miller *2-2) suffered the loss for Chattanooga. Jaxx starter, Jarrett Grube allowed two runs on seven hits in seven innings of a no decision. Grube struck out three and walked three.

Gullermo Quiroz had two of the Jaxx six hits in the game. West Tenn was out-hit 11-6, but benefitted from five Chattanooga errors. The Lookouts got two-hit games from Treyvon Robinson, Corey Smith, Eddy Perez and Elian Herrera.

After two Lookouts' errors in the top of the second inning, Leury Bonilla singled home Johan Limonta to put the Jaxx up 1-0. The Jaxx jumped out to leads in all five games in the series.

Chattanooga tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI groundout from Dee Gordon. Elian Herrera scored the run after he tripled with one out in the inning.

The Lookouts grabbed their first lead of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning on a solo homer by Corey Smith. Chattanooga stranded the bases loaded in the inning, but led 2-1 after the seventh.

The Diamond Jaxx tied the game up in the top of the ninth inning on a throwing error by Lookouts pitcher, Jon Huber. Scott Savastano scored after pinch running for Johan Limonta. The game went to extra innings tied at 2-2.

With one out, Carlos Peguero blasted a solo homer in the top of the 14th inning to give the Jaxx a 3-2 win over the Chattanooga Lookouts.

The Jaxx will return to Pringles Park for a five-game series against the Montgomery Biscuits, beginning on Saturday at 7:05. LHP Anthony Vasquez (0-1, 4.26) will make his Pringles Park debut for the Jaxx and RHP Jeremy Hall (4-7, 3.38) pitches for Montgomery. Saturday is Educators Appreciation Night, Hardina County Night and WLJT Family Night. Plus, after the game there will be a Post Game Fireworks Extravaganza!
