Diablos win game in the ninth

El Paso Diablos News Release

El Paso, TX- In the final game of the Diablos-AirHogs series neither team disappointed, as the Diablos came away with the win in the ninth inning, to clinch the series win 2-1.

In the first third of the game the AirHogs jumped out to a 4-1 lead over the Diablos, and were poised to come away with the win. The Diablos on the other hand wanted no part in a Sunday home loss; Grand Prairie was completely shut down for the rest of the game, as they went scoreless in the last six innings, in fact they only scored in one inning of the game thanks to great pitching by Jesse Estrada and Jake Meiers.

Slowly the Diablos crept back into contention, inning after inning. Finally in the bottom of the ninth the Diablos had their chance, with bases loaded and nobody out, the AirHogs anticlimactically walked home the game winning run and a series win for the Diablos. The player of the game was once again shortstop Maikol Gonzalez who went 2 for 4, with three runs.

The Diablos are now 24-48 this season, as they finished their three game series with the Grand Prairie AirHogs. The Diablos will now go on the road and start a three game series against the Laredo Lemurs.
