Diablos split double header, and win series!

El Paso, TX- Once again, with another double header here at Cohen Stadium, the Diablos come up big as they take one of two games, and defeat the Laredo Lemurs 2-1 in their three game series.

In the first game that carried over from Wednesday night, the Lemurs had a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning, but as the game resumed play the Diablos quickly jumped on Laredo, and by the end of the sixth inning they had a 5-2 lead. Then in the seventh inning the Lemurs had their best offensive inning of the series scoring six runs to take back the lead. The Diablos made things close but a three run home run in the ninth inning sealed the fate of the Diablos in game one as they lost 9-11.

In game two the Diablos regrouped and took control of the game early on. Starting pitcher Justin Kuks was terrific going 5.0 innings only giving up one run on five hits, with one strikeout. Game two was a polar opposite in terms of offense, pitching dominated game two. Late in the game the Diablos had a 3-1 lead over Laredo, but some costly hits and walks tied the game, as extra innings were looming, but in the bottom of the sixth inning the Diablos took back the lead thanks to a Miguel Chacoa RBI single, not only was that the game winning hit, it was also the series clinching hit for the Diablos.

The Diablos are now 32-52 this season as they finished their three game series with the Laredo Lemurs. The Diablos will now head on the road and face the Grand Prairie AirHogs in a three game series, before returning home on the 20th.
