
Lemurs Split Two, Share First

El Paso, TX - The Lemurs jumped into a first-place tie in the American Association South Division after splitting two games tonight at Cohen Stadium.
In game one, Laredo held off the Diablos 11-9.ÃâàThe game resumed in the fourth with the Lemurs leading 2-0.ÃâàIt had been postponed from the night before due to rain and lightning.ÃâàEl Paso scored in three straight innings to take a 5-2 lead after six.ÃâàThe Lemurs then erupted for a six-run seventh, and added three more in the ninth for the victory.ÃâàGreg Wilborn picked up the win in relief.ÃâàWilborn (6-2) worked four innings and allowed six runs (five earned) on eight base hits.ÃâàHe struck out four and walked one.ÃâàChad Povich picked up his third save of the season.ÃâàPovich went an inning and two-thirds, and gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits.ÃâàHe struck out four with no walks.ÃâàAt the plate, Stephen Douglas and Balbino Fuenmayor both homered.ÃâàFuenmayor drove in four, while Douglas had three RBI.ÃâàSix Laredo batters collected at least two hits in the game.
El Paso (32-52) took game two 4-3.ÃâàThe Lemurs scored twice in a pivotal sixth inning to tie the game at 3-3.ÃâàThe Diablos then plated the eventual winning run in the bottom of the sixth.ÃâàMarshall Schuler posted the win in relief for El Paso.ÃâàSchuler (6-2) pitched one and two-thirds, and did not allow a run or a hit.ÃâàJameson Maj took the loss in relief for Laredo.ÃâàMaj (3-2) worked an inning, and allowed one earned run on three hits.ÃâàAt the plate for the Lemurs, John Allen went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.ÃâàBrian Peterson was 2-for-4 with an RBI.ÃâÃÂ
Laredo finished with a 12-10 record this season against El Paso.ÃâàThe Lemurs (45-39) are now in a first-place tie with Grand Prairie after the AirHogs lost two games at Amarillo Thursday.ÃâàLaredo heads to the Texas Panhandle for a three-game weekend series against the Sox starting Friday night at 7:05.
