
Diablos Drop Fifth Straight

El Paso, TX - The Fort Worth Cats dropped El Paso for the second straight night winning 8-2 on Tuesday night at Cohen Stadium. It is the fifth straight loss for El Paso and it is also the fifth straight win for Fort Worth at Cohen Stadium this season.
Fort Worth, for the second straight night, would open up a 3-0 lead before El Paso would respond. El Paso would cut the lead to one by scoring two runs in the fourth. Fort Worth immediately responded by getting a home run in the next half inning by Kevin Thompson. Fort Worth opened up their lead by scoring three in the seventh and one more in the eighth which produced the game's final total.
D.J. Mattox made the start and took the loss pitching one out into the seventh inning. Mattox (8-6) allowed five earned runs on seven hits five walks and five strike outs. Joel Kirsten again dominated the Diablos picking up his third win of the season and his second against El Paso. Kirsten (3-4) went seven innings and allowed just two runs on seven hits.
El Paso's offense produced nine hits in the game but no extra base hits. They were also held without an RBI in the game as one run scored on a wild pitch and another scored when Jonathan Reynoso would get caught in a run down between first and second allowing Jeff Vincent to come home. El Paso was led by Arnoldo Ponce, Rico Santana and Kyle Nichols who all went 2-4 on the night. Hector Bernal waited until his final at bat to do it but was able to get a ninth inning hit push his hitting streak to 19 straight games.
El Paso looks to end their losing ways on Tuesday night. Amad Stephens (4-7, 5.67) well get the start for El Paso against Dwayne Pollok (7-5, 4.45). It is a Where's Waldo Wednesday as contestants try to spot Where's Waldo throughout the stadium for mystery prizes. Game time is set for 7:05. Fans can listen in by online at www.diablos.com.
